Part-Time APRN
The
Chemical Abuse Services Agency Inc., (CASA) is seeking a Part-time APRN the Multicultural
Ambulatory Addiction Services (MAAS) program in New Haven, CT.
The Chemical Abuse Services
Agency, Inc. is a private, non-profit community-based behavioral health
organization. Founded in 1987, the agency
is now one of the leading multicultural behavioral health organizations in Connecticut. CASA is established as a response to the need
for behavioral health services to be available and accessible to the Latino,
African-American and other ethnic groups which have been traditionally under
served. Our mission is to provide
holistic and culturally competent community-based behavioral health services to
individuals, families and communities seeking recovery from addictions,
co-occurring disorders and related behavioral health issues. The organization
utilizes recovery oriented approaches and evidence-based practices to develop
services and operational strategies toward accomplishing this mission.
The Multicultural Ambulatory
Addiction Services (MAAS) at 426
East Street in New Haven provides the following
interventions for chemical dependency and behavioral health issues in an
outpatient setting: Ambulatory Detoxification, Medication Assisted Treatment
(MAT), Day and Outpatient Treatment. Medications employed within these
protocols include but are not limited to Methadone, Buprenorphine, Naltrexone,
Antabuse, and other psycho-tropics as deemed necessary.
Duties and
Responsibilities:
Ø Examines clients to
determine general physical condition
Ø Completes physical and
medical history at admission and upon annual review
Ø Orders laboratory tests and
evaluates data obtained
Ø Provides medication
education for individual clients, staff and families as necessary
Ø Shall review relevant
laboratory analysis, and shall provide required documentation, justification
and orders
Ø Assists psychiatrist and
nurse in transcribing doctor’s orders
Ø Completes clinical and
medical documentation for individual client records
Ø Assists medical director in
on-site supervision of LPN and RNs
Ø Prescribes methadone and routinely reviews client dosage
levels
Qualifications:
Ø Valid State of Connecticut
license as an advanced practicing nurse (or psychiatric advanced practicing
nurse) as well as DEA and DCP
Ø Ability to prescribe and medically monitor substance
abuse and mental health medications
Ø Ability to work effectively with African-Origin/Latino
(a) community preferred
Ø Excellent oral and written communication
skills
Ø Medication assisted
treatment or community based organization or related experience preferred
